A Vibrant Celebration of Connection and Culture

Praseeda Raju, Women's Forum Chair

The Kerala Association of Nashville (KAN) hosted a spirited and memorable Women’s Day celebration on February 28th, bringing together community members for an evening of laughter, networking, and cultural pride.

The event kicked off with a warm mingling session, allowing attendees to connect and strengthen community bonds before the formal program began.

The evening was graced by sponsors Neeta Maliakkal and Dr. Shaifali Grover. Both addressed the gathering with inspiring words and remained active participants throughout the festivities.

The energy stayed high with a series of interactive games and competitions:

  • Purse Scavenger Hunt: An ice-breaker that saw enthusiastic participation from every guest.
  • Saree Draping Competition: Four teams showcased their skills and speed, with winners and participants receiving meaningful tokens of appreciation.
  • Malayalam Movie Dumb Charades: A crowd favorite that tapped into the community's love for cinema. The competitive spirit was so high that many guests were reluctant to see the game end.

No celebration is complete without traditional flavors. During the mid-event break, guests enjoyed a spread of authentic snacks from G.I.F., featuring:

  • Crispy Bhajji
  • Savory Samosa Chaat
  • Classic Onion Pakoda paired with tea.

The event's seamless execution was a testament to the dedication of the KAN leadership and the Women’s Forum team. Key officials in attendance included Vice President Dr. Suseela Somarajan, Treasurer Suma Sivaprasad, Cultural Committee Chair Sreesha Aneesh and Co-chair Asha Pathiary and Youth Forum Co-chair Nisha Prabhakaran.

The "behind-the-scenes" magic was orchestrated by Women’s Chair Praseeda Raju and her hardworking team: Surya Sibi, Shamna Kunnummal, Dhanya Satish, Manju Thoppil, and Vidya Suresh.

As the evening concluded, the overwhelming sentiment was one of joy and a desire for more community-centric events, marking the 2026 Women's Day celebration as a resounding success.
